《愤怒的小鸟在里约Angry Birds Rio》这款作品是和开发商和电影公司合作的产物，Rio是一部20世纪福克斯电影公司的动画电影，电影中也会出现游戏中的角色。游戏则是讲述小鸟们将被绑架到一座魔法城市，它们要一路躲过捕猎者的追踪，抢救出自己的同伴Blu和Jewel这两个《Rio》电影中的主角。
游戏保持了系列一贯的画面风格，玩家可以在游戏中看到那几只无比熟悉的Angry Birds。同时借助电影内容的游戏场景，玩家在可以领略到电影《Rio》的一部分剧情。在游戏的配乐方面，则是变成了富有拉丁美洲音乐要素的风格，相当有趣。而音效仍保持了系列中Angry Birds的各种叫声。
